The God...(of Cricket... of Course...!)

The God...
Have you ever wondered how a man can be your hero right from your child hood until you're a man..?
Well, I saw that kind of a hero in Sachin Tendulkar....

I have often visualized in my mind, the day Sachin retires from international cricket. The feeling itself makes me fear I might break out into tears that day...
(I hate the idea of some one seeing me cry.. ;-)

So how did Sachin manage to enter right into our heart from the cricket pitch..? How can a short man with a boyish voice & charm capture the heart of millions so long..?

I believe its because of his sheer passion and love for the game. He loves the game like me and you .. It's the same reason which drives him even today to push his body to the limits at the age of 39. Off the field also, he is such a wonderful person, a perfect gentleman. The one you'd like your son to grow into.

I'm nearing 27 now.. the first memory of Sachin that I have is in the 1992 Benson and Hedges world cup.(When I was 7 ..!) I remember Sachin getting stumped out.. I saw that his bat was over the line (but not touching the ground). For a child, it was enough reason to believe that he is not out. I thought it was unfair to Sachin when 3rd umpire declared him OUT.  I gave vent to my anger assuming the chair to be third umpires nose and beating against it..!

After that, I have followed his game whenever possible. When he plays every risky shot, I had my heart in my mouth. When  he was batting with Ganguly, I would pray to god.. " God, please don't make Sachin out. get this dude Ganguly out instead..!

Even at this time of  commonsense cricketers like Dhoni and Kohli, Sachin still continues to amaze us.There is an aura of calmness around him which is spectacular .

I cannot express the relief I felt when he completed his 100th 100. I was in office then, but keeping a track of the proceedings over the internet . As soon as he completed his hundred.. I jumped up from my seat, opened my arms and looked at everyone just as Sachin would look at the sky.. I saw many faces looking at me .  Making the face of a boy whose name was called for a prize and later corrected for another person, I sank back into my chair..

Back to the match, India lost it. but I didn't feel much sad.. Know why..? Sachin has scored his 100th hundred...!!!!

How can a man's achievements be larger than a nation's win..? Australians have asked this question many times. The answer is, it's when a nation loves a person so much that they feel all of his records belong to them also in some way or another.. It's a feeling aussies will never know..!

So what's the point here ? After the disastrous 2012 Australian Tour, Many were demanding Sachin to retire due to his poor trot of runs there. But its the same Sachin who played for our country for so long, carried immense expectations on his shoulder's and delivered most of the times. As Actor Mohanlal said, " I've been fortunate to see Sachin play right from the start of his career until now. Its been a remarkable journey. What we need to do is to allow him play until he can and enjoy every moment of it."

Have you ever seen a person remaining your hero right from your child hood until you're a man..? Well, I've seen that kind of a hero...!
